Tshirt Design for Arii Creation

2008

Arri Creation,
French Polynesia.

In 2008, I worked for 6 month for Arii Creation as their inhouse designer, I had to design in a polynesian style, flowery pareos, tribal tatoo like design, tikis… It was at first challenging, but very liberating. Designing shapes and colors
without having to worry about text is a real treat!
On this design, I tried to mix up Tahitian, Maori and Chinese
Design. I think it worked. I like drawing shapes that have a
double meaning.

Lonely Islander

2008
Design for Arii Creation, French Polynesia.

This is an attempt to try to renew pareo design in Tahiti. Instead of having the typical flower motif, I thought of using a pareo as a canvas for a whole image. Boss didn’t like it, too different…

Now that I look back, I think I was stating to feel lonely and ready to go!

Seamless Design for textile, Arii Creation

2008

Arii Creation,
French Polynesia

After designing the flowers, I tried to convey a different feel, just by changing the colours.

I started with pastels, and worked my way to 70’s colors in the last sample.

It’s amazing how it’s the colours that give the mood.

Seamless Pareo Design for Pareo, Arii Creation

20028

Arii Creation, French Polynesia.

This seamless pattern has been designed
for pareos, for Mother Day.

In this factory, we couldn’t print more than 6 colours for a design, so I had to choose carefully those 6 colours.

The modern Tahitian

2008

Arii Creation.

This is a attempt to modernise their traditional flowery design in order to attract youger customers.

It worked pretty well and the T Shirt got sold in not time.

Polynesian Camouflage

2008

Arii Creation
French Polynesia.

This is a camouflage seamless patern made out of leaf. Regular camouflage patern is very popular in french Polynesia, I thought that Arii Creation could jump into the trend but with its own twick to it.

The three versions are:
– Green for the forest (Polynesian Island are covered by tropical forest).
– Blue for the lagoon.
– Grey for cloudy days..
